FASTag is a boon for transportation as it makes movement barrier free and fast by reloading the tag and deducting toll charges automatically. It uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to make cashless payments through a prepaid account linked to it. On 19 October 2019, it was announced that FASTag will be mandatory on all National Highways from 1 December 2019. You can also buy FASTag by visiting the nearest certified bank branch and get the FASTag linked with your existing bank accounts by using the My FASTag mobile app. Instead of a bank account, a prepaid wallet can be easily used for loading and deducting money. This wallet is created by NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) and is available in this app. In this article, I found that FASTag increases the speed and efficiency of transportation system. It truly means FASTag – making the movement barrier free and fast.
