The Positive Consequences of Student Centered-Learning Method in English as a Foreigner Language at Jahan University
Abstract
This research examines the beneficial impact of Student-Centered Learning (SCL) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms at Jahan University. The SCL approach prioritizes student engagement by encouraging active participation, collaboration, critical thinking, and the practical application of knowledge. In contrast to traditional teacher-driven methods, SCL empowers students to take ownership of their learning, creating a more engaging, dynamic, and inclusive classroom atmosphere. The study utilized a quantitative research design, with data collected through questionnaires. Ten EFL students from different faculties at Jahan University were selected using a resampling technique to ensure diverse representation. The responses were analyzed statistically to assess the influence of SCL on student engagement, language development, and academic performance. The findings indicate that SCL significantly improves learning outcomes by fostering a deeper understanding of the material, enhancing motivation, and boosting language proficiency. Additionally, the study highlights that SCL contributes to a more interactive learning environment where students are encouraged to collaborate, exchange ideas, and relate lessons to real-world situations. In conclusion, the research confirms that integrating SCL into EFL classrooms can effectively enhance academic performance and create a more inclusive and participatory learning experience.
