Industry 4.0 and Emotional Intelligence: Synergies for the Future of Work

Abstract

Industry 4.0 is the integration of digital technologies into industrial processes and manufacturing.  Another name for it is the fourth industrial revolution.   The integration of cyber-physical systems, big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) sets it apart. It is revolutionizing industries by automating and digitizing processes. As organizations become increasingly dependent on technology, which requires lots of change and adaptation, the human element—particularly emotional intelligence (EI)—emerges as a critical differentiator. Emotional intelligence, which is characterised by self- awareness, self –regulation of one’s emotion and understanding others, serves as a major tool in dealing with the challenges posed by industry 4.o. This essay investigates the relationship between emotional intelligence and Industry 4.0. The paper deals about the overview of Industry 4.o, the challenges it poses It also attempts to understand emotional intelligence and how Emotional intelligence can complement technological advancement by enhancing leadership, collaboration, adaptability, and workforce well-being in the digital era. The paper also focuses on the benefits of integrating emotional intelligence and industry 4.o like better decision making, enhances the creativity of the employees. Emotional intelligence helps in creating better leaders who are empathetic and have an adaptive attitude, which in turn leads to better employee retention. The paper also brings into light the barriers and challenges of integrating emotional intelligence in industry 4.o
